ઈસ્લામ ધર્મમાં સારા માણસ બનવા માટે પ્રથમ મુસલમાન બનવુ જરૂરી છે અને મુસલમાન બનવા માટે બુનિયાદી પાંચ કર્તવ્યોને અમલમાં લાવવુ જરૂરી છે. પ્રથમ ઈમાન બીજુ નમાઝ ત્રીજા રોજા ચોથુ હજ અને પાચમુ જકાત ઈસ્લામના આ પાંચેય કર્તવ્ય માણસમાં પ્રેમ, સહાનુભૂતિ, મદદ અને હમદર્દીની પ્રેરણા આપે છે. રોજાને અરબીમાં સોમ કહે છે. જેનો મતલબ છે રોકાવવુ. રોજા મતલબ તમામ દુર્ગુણોથી દૂર રહેવુ. રોજામાં દિવસભર ભૂખ્યા અને તરસ્યા જ રહેવામાં આવે છે. આ રીતે જો કોઈ સ્થાન પર લોકો કોઈની સાથે ખરાબ વ્યવ્હાર કરી રહ્યા છે તો રોજેદાર માટે આવા સ્થળ પર રોકાવવાની મનાઈ છે. જ્યારે મુસલમાન રોજા રાખે છે ત્યારે તેના હૃદયમાં ભૂખ્યા વ્યક્તિ માટે હમદર્દી ઉભી થાય છે. રમઝાનમાં પુણ્યના કામોનો સબાવ સીત્તેર ગણો
