દેશભરમાં 24 જુલાઈ આષાઢ ગુરૂ પૂર્ણિમા ઉજવાશે. સનાતન ધર્મમાં પૂર્ણિમા તિથિના દિવસે ગંગા સ્નાન અને દાન ખૂબ શુભ ફળદાયક ગણાય છે. માન્યતા છે કે આષાઢ પૂર્ણિમા તિથિને જ વેદોના રચયિતા મહર્ષિ વેદવ્યાસના જન્મ પર સદીઓથી ગુરૂ પૂર્ણિમાના દિવસે ગુરૂ પૂજનની પરંપરા ચાલી આવી રહી છે. ગુરૂ પૂર્ણિમાને વ્યાસ પૂર્ણિમાના નામથી પણ ઑળખાય છે. 
 
આષાઢી પૂર્ણિમા કે ગુરૂ પૂર્ણિમા શુભ મૂહૂર્ત
હિંદુ પંચાગ મુજબ આષાઢી મહિનાના પૂર્ણિમા 23 જુલાઈ (શુક્રવારે) સવારે 10 વાગીને 43 મિનિટથી શરૂ થશે જે 24 જુલાઈની સવારે 8 વાગીને 06 મિનિટ સુધી રહેશે. ઉદય તિથિમાં પૂર્ણિમા ગણવાના કારણે 24 જુલાઈ શનિવારે જ ઉજવાશે.
 
24 જુલાઇના રોજ આ રીતે ગુરુ પૂર્ણિમાની પૂજા કરો, જાણો શું ફાયદા થશે. ગુરુ પૂર્ણિમા અથવા અષાઢી
પૂર્ણિમાના દિવસે સર્વાર્થ સિધ્ધિ અને પ્રીતિ યોગનો શુભ જોડાણ થઈ રહ્યું છે. પ્રીતિ યોગ 24 જુલાઇને સવારે 6.12 થી શરૂ થશે, જે 25 જુલાઇને સવારે 03: 16 સુધી ચાલુ રહેશે. સર્વાર્થ ધ્ધિ યોગ આ દિવસે બપોરે 12.40 વાગ્યાથી બીજા દિવસે 25 જુલાઈના રોજ સવારે 05:39 સુધી રહેશે. આ બંને યોગ શુભ કાર્યોની સિદ્ધિ માટે શ્રેષ્ઠ માનવામાં આવે છે.
 
આ રીતે કરવી પૂજા 
જ્યોતિષાચાર્યોના મુજબ ગુરૂ પૂર્ણિમા પર પાન, પાણીવાળુ નારિયેળ, મોદક, કપૂર લવિંગ ઈલાયચીની સાથે પૂજનથી મનોવાંછિત ફળની પ્રાપ્તિ હોય છે. સૌ વાજસ્નીય યજ્ઞના સમાન ફળ મળે ક્જ્જે. 
ગંગામાં સ્નાન કરવાથી અસ્થમા, ચામડીના રોગોમાં ફાયદો થાય છે- આચાર્ય રાજનાથ ઝાએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે પૂર્ણ ચંદ્ર પર ગંગામાં સ્નાન કરવું એ આરોગ્ય અને આયુષ્ય છે. ત્વચાના રોગો અને અસ્થમામાં તે ખૂબ ફાયદાકારક છે.
વૈદિક મંત્રોનો જાપ કરવાથી વિશેષ કૃપા - વૈદિક મંત્રોચ્ચાર કરવાથી અને વિષ્ણુ સહસ્ત્રનામનો પાઠ કરવાથી ગુરુને વિશેષ કૃપા પ્રાપ્ત થાય છે.
ખીરનું દાન કરવાથી માનસિક શાંતિ- ગુરુપૂર્ણિમાની રાત્રે ખીર બનાવી દાન કરવાથી માનસિક શાંતિ મળે છે. ચંદ્ર ગ્રહની અસર પણ દૂર થઈ છે.
વાણિજ્યની પૂજા- વૃક્ષરાજ (વટવૃક્ષ) ને ઋષિ યાજ્ઞવલ્યના વરદાન દ્વારા જીવન આપવામાં આવ્યું હતું. તેથી જ ગુરુ પૂર્ણિમા પર પણ વટના ઝાડની પૂજા કરાય છે.
